Complex Geometries and Materials

Complex Geometries and Materials will create new sensing and data-processing techniques to quantify defects for advanced materials (e.g. carbon fibre composites) and complex geometric configurations.

The project considers the minimum quantifiable defect for a given material and geometric configuration particularly for the detection of small defects near corners in complex materials and components. This research will also address the question of what the minimum resolution in material properties is that EM NDE can deliver for a given sensor.
