Driving Electromagnetic Inspection Technology towards the Materials 4.0 revolution

FENDER is a 4 year, £5m EPSRC-funded collaborative programme between the Universities of Manchester, Warwick, Bristol, Strathclyde and Newcastle seeking to drive a step change in electromagnetic inspection technology.

Built around five constituent research projects, FENDER will harness the  teams’ expertise in electromagnetic sensing, modelling, automation and robotics, and the use of challenging materials to address the key research challenges facing electromagnetic Non-Destructive Evaluation.

Our ambition is to create a world-leading, agile, programme that addresses the foundational science topics essential for innovation to produce the next generation of electromagnetic non-destructive evaluation tools and techniques, paving the way for these advances to be deployed with our industry partners across the engineering sector.
